Abstract
In method and apparatus for estimating a sideslip angle of an automotive vehicle, a cornering power (PC.sub.2) of a rear road wheel is calculated as in the following equation (1a) using detected values of a yaw rate (.DELTA..psi.), a lateral acceleration (.DELTA..DELTA.Y), and a vehicle velocity (V). The estimated sideslip angle (P.beta.) is calculated in the following equation (1b).
