Abstract
A collimating system utilizes a Rainbow.RTM. disk for holding and adjusting the position of the collimating lens. By applying a voltage to the two surfaces of the Rainbow.RTM. disk, the disk changes shape which causes the position of the collimating lens to be displaced. By adjusting the amount of voltage applied to the disk, the position of the collimating lens can be precisely adjusted to provide a substantially collimating light beam.
