Abstract
A method is provided for assessing the functional integrity of a mucosal membrane, comprising: (a) locally administering a dosage of a radionuclide to the surface of a mucosal membrane of a mammal; and (b) employing dynamic scintigraphy to measure the absorption of the radionuclide into the bloodstream of the mammal.
