Abstract
An information processing system directly transfers data in file units between devices of a system including a central processing unit and a main memory unit connected to the devices. An address in a physical address space is assigned to a device memory. The assigned address is mapped to a user space in a virtual address space. An address translation table in the main memory unit performs an address translation of the virtual address space and the physical address space. Therefore, the system can treat the device memory as a buffer in the main memory unit.
