Abstract

A pyruvate compound suitable for cosmetically or dermatologically administering to the skin and for use in treating diabetic ketosis or other medical treatments. The compound includes a pyruvate selected from the group of pyruvate thioester, dihydroxyacetonepyruvate, and an ester of pyruvate and a sugar or a polyol.
