Abstract
This invention provides methods of of inhibiting mucin production in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal an RAR antagonist. Preferably, the RAR antagonist is an RAR.alpha. selective antagonist. In another aspect, this invention provides methods of inhibiting mucin gene expression in a human epithelial cell by contacting the cell with an RAR antagonist, preferably an RAR.alpha. selective antagonist.
