Abstract

This invention relates to a novel pharmaceutical composition which may be administered parenterally to a mammal for the production of general anaesthesia, specifically to a limpid, stable, injectable pharmaceutical formulation of 2,6-diisopropylphenol. The formulation comprises 2,6-diisopropylphenol, a compound of the following general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 can be the same or different and are hydrogen or lower alkyl group containing 1-3 carbons or acetate group and optionally water and/or one or more antioxidants.
