Abstract

The invention relates to a method of preparing an oxide of formula Li.sub.x Mn.sub.y O.sub.z, in which x lies in the range 0 to 2, y lies in the range 1 to 3, and z lies in the range 3 to 4.5, x, y, and z being such that the oxide has a composition close to LiMn.sub.2 O.sub.4.
