Abstract
This invention comprises a photographic element, comprising a support bearing at least one silver halide emulsion and at least one malonanilide yellow dye-forming DIR coupler of structure I, below: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 and R.sub.2 are individually selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms and alkoxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, carbonamido, sulfonamido, sulfamoyl, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl, sulfonyloxy, acyloxy and cyano groups and each is in the para position or in either meta position relative to the NH group of the anilide; m and n are individually 0 or 1; R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are individually a halogen atom or an alkyl group and may be in the para position or either meta position relative to the NH group of the anilide; X and Y are individually a halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group; and R.sub.5 is an alkyl group with 3 to 10 carbon atoms or a phenyl group.
