Abstract
Compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts inhibit matrix metalloproteases, such as stromelysin, gelatinase, matrilysin and collagenase, and are useful in the treatment of mammals having disease-states alleviated by the inhibition of such matrix metalloproteases.
