Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition and method of producing noggregating, filterable dispersion of liposome encapsulated agent or therapeutic of interest, specifically hemoglobin. A key step in the method of the present invention is the addition of a passivating protein prior to hydration of the liposomes with the agent of interest. The resulting dispersion is composed of unilamellar vesicles having a diameter of less than or equal to 0.2 microns.
