Abstract

The object of the present invention is to prevent disconnection of leading wirings extending across a seal area in a liquid crystal display panel based on a pixel-on-top structure. Scanning lines, signal lines and TFTs are formed over an insulating substrate. Pixel electrodes are formed over these components with an inorganic insulating film and an organic insulating film interposed therebetween. Around the display area in which the pixel electrodes are arranged are placed driver circuits that apply voltage signals to the scanning lines and the signal lines. A sealant is placed in boundary area (seal area) between the display area and the driver circuit area. At the same time the pixel electrodes are formed, ITO film is formed on the inorganic insulating film to overlies leading wirings that extend across the seal area.
