Abstract
Alkaline earth and transition metal scaling such as calcium and magnesium scaling can be controlled or removed in pipes, vessels, heat exchanges, evaporators, and filters, and in the oil field applications such as, for example, for drilling, production, and recovery operations with the addition of an effective amount of 2-hydroxyethyl iminodiacetic acid (HEIDA) or a salt thereof.
