Abstract

A refrigerant compressor using a refrigerant composed mainly of a fluorocarbon and/or hydrofluorocarbon type refrigerant containing no chlorine and having a critical temperature of 40.degree. C. or higher, and a refrigerating machine oil comprising as base oil an ester oil of one or more fatty acids which contains at least two ester linkages ##STR1## in the molecule and has a viscosity at 40.degree. C. of 2 to 70 cSt and a viscosity at 100.degree. C. of 1 to 9 cSt. The winding wire of the stator of the compressor has a core wire having an enamel coating having a glass transition temperature of 120.degree. C. or higher.
