Abstract

A method for processing a black-and-white silver halide photographic light-sensitive material. The method comprises the steps of (1) developing the black-and-white photographic light-sensitive material containing a quaternary onium compound with a developer containing ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof and having a pH value of from 8.0 to 10.0, (2) fixing the light-sensitive material, (3) washing the light-sensitive material by an automatic processor having a multi-step counter flow washing system, and (4) drying the light-sensitive material.
