Abstract

The invention relates to a process for the polymerization and co-polymerization of olefins, which comprises polymerizing/copolymerizing olefins in presence of a solvent, a supported metallocene catalyst and an aluminoxane as cocatalyst in a hydrocarbon medium, at a temperature in the range of 50 to 150.degree. C., at a pressure ranging between 1 to 20 bar, for a period of 10 minutes to 10 hours, scavenging the reaction mixture by addition of an organoaluminum compound to remove the last traces of impurities of solvent, separating the polymer by conventional method like, washing the polymer with an organic solvent and drying the polymer to remove the solvent to obtain the product.
