Abstract

A monoclonal antibody (Mab), or a fragment thereof, that binds to one or more epitopes of a matrix binding protein and an isolated D1-D4 polypeptide (SEQ ID NO. 6, 7, and 8) from a Staphylococcus aureus Fbp and their use in the prevention of adhesion of bacteria, in particular gram positive bacteria, to extracellular matrix proteins on in-dwelling devices or to matrix proteins in wounds.
