Abstract
A process for preparing a catalyst support in which a hydrophilic inorganic oxide of an element of main groups II to IV or transition group IV of the Periodic Table or a mixture or mixed oxide thereof is dried at from 110 to 800.degree. C., subsequently reacted, if desired, with aluminoxanes or aluminum alkyls and subsequently reacted simultaneously with aluminoxanes and polyfunctional organic crosslinkers. In a further stage, the catalyst support can be brought into contact with a polyolefin catalyst, giving a supported polyolefin catalyst which is used, in particular, for the polymerization of olefins.
