Abstract
A black and white photographic element contains a filter dye of Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each R.sup.1 is independently substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy, cyano, hydroxy, carboxy, substituted or unsubstituted amido, or substituted or unsubstituted sulfonamido; n is 1-4; R.sup.2 is H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or amido; each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is independently hydrogen or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; and M is a cation.
