Abstract

The present invention relates to an amylase from the genus Pyrodictium, specifically to an amylase from Pyrodictium abyssi and more specifically to an amylase from Pyrodictium abyssi, DSM 6158, which has amylase activity optimum at temperatures in the range 110-120.degree. C., determined at pH 5.5 with starch as a substrate.
