Abstract
A fishing reel of the double bearing type is provided which enhances the ability of releasing a fishline. The fishing reel of the double bearing type includes a spool (5) rotatably supported on a reel body, and this spool includes a fishline-winding barrel portion (50), and a pair of flanges (51). D is not more than 50 mm, and (d/D) is 50.about.80% where D represents an outer diameter of the spool, and d represents a diameter of a bottom of the fishline-winding barrel portion of the spool.
