Abstract

New metallocene compounds (II) and their synthetic intermediates (I) used for olefin polymerization catalysts represented by the general formulas (I) and (II) ##STR1## (wherein X can be identical or different and is each independently of one another a halogen atom, M.sup.1 is a group IV transition metal atom, A is a nitrogen or phosphorus atoms, R.sup.1 is an aryl group, R.sup.2 is a saturated hydrocarbon group having 1-10 carbon atoms, whereby each of R.sup.2 can bind one another to constitute a ring containing A and M.sup.1, L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 can be each other identical or different and are a substituted cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, substituted indenyl or substituted fluorenyl groups, B is a hydrocarbon having 1-20 carbon atoms, silylene having 1-20 carbon atoms, oligosilylene or germylene groups, binding to L.sup.1 and L.sup.2, and M.sup.1 can be also coordinated with an ether or an amine at any coordination number.).
