Abstract
The invention provides high purity alkoxytrimethylsilane fluids of the general formula ROSiMe.sub.3 wherein Me is methyl and R is a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon substituent which ranges from 14 to about 20 carbons, the fluid being substantially free of organic and inorganic contaminants, wherein the alkoxytrimethylsilanes are produced by a novel process, and can be readily incorporated into cosmetic formulations containing organic components without heating and provide improved sensory characteristics compared to those provided by the corresponding alcohols.
