Abstract
The addition of an effective amount of a liquid modified diethanolamide which is suitably a reaction product of cocoamide and phthalic anhydride to a calcium chloride composition, which can be a brine solution or a solid, reduces the amount of corrosion of metals by the resulting composition. The calcium chloride/diethanolamide composition can be used as a deicer composition.
