Abstract
A resilient sealing insert for use in a ram-type blowout preventer the insert having an outer sealing surface enclosing an angle of less than 180.degree. and sealing faces that extend radially outwardly from the outer sealing surface in a plane substantially normal to the axis of generation of the arcuate sealing surface.
