Abstract

A transdermal therapeutic system containing the active substance 17-.beta.-estradiol and optionally further active substances has a laminated structure positioned on a backing layer which is essentially impermeable to active substance and moisture, at least one matrix layer and optionally an adhesive layer. The at least one matrix layer or the adhesive layer contains anhydrous 17-.beta.-estradiol in crystalline form.
