Abstract

Diketopyrrolo�3,4-c!pyrroles of the formula ##STR1## in which X and Y independently of one another are a divalent aromatic radical and R is a radical CN, COR.sub.5, CO.sub.2 R.sub.5, CON(R.sub.5).sub.2, NO.sub.2, SO.sub.2 R.sub.5, SOR.sub.5, SO.sub.2 N(R.sub.5).sub.2 or PO(OR.sub.6).sub.2. For the definition of the substituents R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.5, refer to claim 1. These compounds are blue to violet, tinctorially strong pigments with good stability properties, in particular good light stability and weather stability.
