Abstract

Disclosed are methods for the preparation of resins comprising a support matrix having ligands capable of binding a target compound covalently attached thereto through a linking group comprising sulfide, sulfoxide, or sulfone functionality. Specifically, in the disclosed methods, a support matrix comprising ethylenically unsaturated functionality is converted to sulfide linkage by contact with a thiol group under free radical reaction conditions and subsequent optional oxidation of the sulfide to the sulfone or sulfoxide functionality.
