Abstract
An image forming apparatus, usable with a process cartridge detachably mountable thereto, for forming an image on a recording material includes a mounting device for mounting the process cartridge; an openable member relative to a main assembly of the image forming apparatus; an urging device, provided in the main assembly, for urging the process cartridge when the openable member is closed, and for releasing the process cartridge when the openable member is opened.
