Abstract
A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for accessing non-relational, non-object-oriented datastores. A computerized system in accordance with the principles of the present invention includes a 'bridge' for retrieving data from the non-object-oriented datastore in response to a query request received from an application program and for encapsulating the retrieved data in one or more datastore persistent objects, wherein the query request conforms to a syntax that provides for a qualified retrieval of one or more collections of datastore persistent objects and the datastore persistent objects are materialized as members of one or more of the collections.
