Abstract

The novel transition metal compound of the invention is represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are each a halogen atom; and Y is a divalent silicon-containing group selected from the group consisting of dimethylsilylene, diphenylsilylene and methylphenylsilylene. The transition metal compound is useful for an olefin polymerization catalyst with which a propylene (co)polymer having specific structure is prepared.
