Abstract

A liquid one-component PU stoving enamel is provided along with its synthesis, where the stoving enamel contains a) a hydroxyl-containing polymer; b) a partially or totally blocked isophorone-based polyisocyanate containing uretdione groups; c) an organic bismuth compound catalyst, and d) an organic solvent or mixture of two or more organic solvents, wherein components a and b are present in a total (a+b) amount of from 40 to 70 parts by weight based on total composition weight, component c is present in an amount of from 0.5 to 5 parts by weight based on total composition weight; and component d is present in an amount of from 30 to 60 parts by weight based on total composition weight; and wherein a and b are each present in amounts sufficient to provide an OH/NCO equivalents ratio of from 0.8 to 1.2 NCO equivalents of component b per OH equivalent of component a.
