Abstract

An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising an electrically conductive support and at least a carrier generation layer and a carrier transport layer formed on the substrate, wherein said carrier generation layer contains a polyester resin having a repeating structural unit of the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is an alkylene group which may have a substituent; each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent or an aryl group which may have a substituent, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 may together form a ring; Ar is an arylene group which may have a substituent; each of Ar.sup.1 and Ar.sup.2 is a phenylene group which may have a substituent; and each of m and n is from 0 to 10, provided that m and n are not simultaneously 0.
