Abstract

A personal service computer is provided for the administration and maintenance of communication systems. On the basis of an initialization of a communication exchange between the communication system and the connected personal service computer, communication-associated information are interrogated with the assistance of which--after a selection of an administration job--the provided stack of administration and maintenance instructions is determined in the personal service computer. The administration and maintenance parameters to be inserted are interrogated under the control of the user surface. The administration and maintenance instructions that are provided with administration and maintenance parameters and which form a job stack, are successively transferred to the communication system and a reply information transmitted as a reaction from the communication system is interpreted, evaluated and visualized. With the system of the invention, a personal service computer can be realized for administering and maintaining different communication systems with different configuration levels and program versions.
