Abstract
A silver halide photographic material is provided which exhibits nearly equal sensitivities and gamma values with respect to yellow, magenta and cyan to form a black-and-white image of neutral black or sepia tone, even when it is processed with a color developer free from benzyl alcohol. The silver halide photographic material is made up of a substrate and at least one silver halide emulsion layer formed on the substrate. The silver chloride content of silver halide grains constituting the silver halide emulsion layer is 95 mole % or above, the silver halide emulsion is spectrally sensitized by a specific sensitizing dye, and the silver halide emulsion layer contains a yellow coupler, a magenta coupler and a cyan coupler. The image-forming process is characterized by developing the silver halide photographic material with a color developer substantially free from benzyl alcohol.
