A color-stable antifreeze composition containing a polyhydric alcohol, a corrosion inhibitor and a poly(oxyalkylene)-substituted colorant having the structure ABXYZ, where A is an organic chromophore; B is an electrophilic reactive group covalently bonded to A directly or through a linking group; X is a nucleophilic linking group covalently bonding B and Y; Y is a poly(oxyalkylene)-containing moiety; and Z is a terminal group for Y.
