Abstract
In the preparation of bisphenol-A by condensation of phenol with acetone in the presence of an acidic ion-exchange resin catalyst, pretreatment of the catalyst to render it free of acidic oligomers which are detrimental to the preparation of bisphenol-A entails washing the catalyst resin with deionized water until the washings show a specific conductance of less than 50 micromho/cm at 25.degree. C.
