This invention provides compounds of the formula: ##STR1## The invention further provides the use of this compound to prepare N,N'-bridged bisindolylmaleimides. Furthermore, the invention provides pharmaceutical formulations and the methods of use for inhibiting Protein Kinase C in mammals.
