Abstract
The instant invention discloses a method of treating hyperactive voiding associated with excessive nerve growth factor production and nerve growth in patients by administering a Ca.sup.++ channel blocker. The Ca.sup.++ channel blockers verapamil and diltiazem can be administered systemically to treat hyperactive voiding, such as is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia and interstitial cystitis.
