Abstract

The invention provides a photographic material comprising at least one light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a yellow dye forming coupler having formula (I) or (II): ##STR1## wherein R represents an aromatic or heterocyclic group containing a group ionizable at pH 10 that is in conjugation with the double bond between the carbons to which A and X are respectively bonded through a .pi.-electron network;
