Abstract

The present invention concerns a plate (1) for cooling a blast furnace and forged or rolled out of a blank of copper or mainly-copper alloy. Vertical bores (3) extend into the plate. A detachable furnace-cooling component (4) with vertical bores (5) and horizontal bores (6) extending into it is attached to the top or bottom of the plate. Coolant is pumped into and out of the bores in the furnace-cooling component through sections (2) of pipe and into and out of the bores in the plate through other sections (2) of pipe. Both cooling systems communicate with the furnace's cooling system by way of the pipe sections (2), which extend through the furnace plating (10).
