Abstract

A ferrofluid comprising an aqueous suspension of an unsilanated or silanated nanocomposite comprised of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 nanoparticles and an ionic exchange resin, wherein the ferrofluid has a high magnetization moment of about 20 to about 40 emu/gram.
