Abstract
A method for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, which comprises reducing at least one chlorofluorohydrocarbon selected from the group consisting of CF.sub.3 CClXCClF.sub.2 wherein X is a H atom or a Cl atom, and CF.sub.3 CCl.dbd.CF.sub.2, with hydrogen in the presence of a reduction catalyst comprising, as a first component, at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ru, Rh, Pd and Pt, and, as a second component, at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, La, Re, W, Ta, Nb, Ti, Zr, Mo, Cu, Ag and Au.
