Abstract

A bifunctional alkyl phosphine oxide which is represented by the following general formula (1), ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents tert-butyl or 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl, and a production method thereof. This organophosphorus compound is useful a wide variety of fields including a flame retardant, antistatic additive, antibacterial agent, dyeing-improving agent, resin modifier, stain-proofing agent, and rust preventives. This compound can be produced industrially advantageously.
