Abstract
A pyrotechnic delay charge for providing delays in the millisecond and second ranges, comprising the components bismuth oxide as an oxidation agent and silicon as a fuel. The invention also relates to a pyrotechnic delay element having an enclosure containing the pyrotechnical delay charge, and to a detonator having a housing, ignition means disposed at one end of the housing, a base charge of a secondary explosive disposed at the other end of the housing and the pyrotechnic delay charge disposed therebetween.
