Abstract
A silver halide photographic material containing at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support is provided. The silver halide emulsion layer comprises chemically sensitized silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 50 mol % or more, said silver halide emulsion has been spectrally sensitized with at least one dye selected from the dyes represented by one of the general formulas (1), (2) and (3) shown in the specification. The emulsion layer or at least one other hydrophilic colloidal layer contains at least one member selected from the hydrazine derivatives represented by one of the formulas (4), (5) and (6) shown in the specification and at least one compound selected from the compounds represented by one of the formulas (7), (8), (9), (10), (11) and (12) shown in the specification. A process for the formation of an image is also provided, which comprises the development of a silver halide photographic material as defined above with a developer having a pH value of 9.6 to less than 11.0.
