Abstract

Bilayer filaments and fused cords thereof are described. The product is particularly useful for tire cord and filaments include a core of a partially crystalline, oriented polymer and a shell or sheath formed of a blend of robber and a relatively low melting polymer. A particularly preferred embodiment includes a poly(ethylene terephalate) core as well as a sheath of copolyester blended with poly(styrene-elastomer-styrene) elastomer.
