A magnetic recording medium comprises a support, and provided thereon, a non-magnetic layer and an uppermost magnetic layer in that order, said non-magnetic layer containing an acicular non-magnetic powder, and said uppermost magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic metal powder comprising Fe and Al.
