Abstract

The invention relates to water-based organopolysiloxane containing compositions which are essentially free from organic solvents, have a flash point above 70.degree. C. and essentially liberate no alcohols by hydrolysis on dilution with water. The organopolysiloxane-containing compositions according to the invention are obtainable by mixing M mol of water-insoluble organotrialkoxysilanes with Q mol of water-soluble aminoalkylalkoxysilanes in a molar ratio of 0<M/Q.ltoreq.2, adding water to the mixture, adjusting the pH of the reaction mixture to a value of between 1 and 8 and removing alcohol already present and/or formed during the reaction. The process for the preparation of the organopolysiloxane-containing compositions according to the invention and their use are also disclosed.
