Abstract

The present invention provides an image receiving material comprising a receiving layer containing physical development nuclei characterized in that said physical development nuclei are grown on a colloidal smectic clay. Said image receiving material may be provided wih a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer or may form a separate receiving element. The image receiving materials of the present invention can also be used for making lithographic printing plates having good printing properties.
